After a week of Spring Break I started school back up this past Monday. You would think that a week off of school would help my body play catch up as I relaxed from the stresses of high school life, but unfortunately no dice. Leaving school for a week actually has made me feel very light headed and tired for the first time in awhile. My theory is that by drastically changing my schedule by taking time off for spring break, I put unnecessary stress on my body.
Dysautonomia is extremely fickle, and doctor’s have told me many times to try and keep a consistent schedule. I went from waking up at 6:00 am in the morning to sleeping in until 10:00 am. While this may seem trivial, when school started back up my body was used to going to sleep at 12:00 pm and waking up at 10:00 am. Then bam Sunday night came and I couldn’t fall asleep until 12:00 pm, I woke up at 6:00 am, and on six hours of sleep my body was under additional physical stress. This little extra stress and change of schedule has worsened my symptoms and lasted the whole week putting a damper on my ability to do normal activities.
Moral of the story, try and keep a steady sleep schedule where you are getting about 8 hours a night. This will prevent unnecessary stress that could cause setbacks and will help you live a much steadier life.
